Famed camera brand Leica has announced its very first smartphone, which is available exclusively to the Japanese market. The Leitz Phone 1 is effectively a retooled Sharp Aquos R6 in a new case with, as we’d expect, a seriously powerful lens. In fact, the Leitz ships with a Leica lens cap. The camera itself is a 20-megapixel, 1-inch sensor fitted with a 19mm-equivalent f/1.9 lens with 4k video recording. The phone itself features a 6.6-inch and 2,730 x 1,260 display and supports 5G. It’s a stylish phone but it’s clearly built for users looking for a camera upgrade. At the moment, it isn’t clear when or if we’ll see a worldwide release.
